REED are looking for an experienced Youth Offending Officer .
This is based in the Leicestershire area.
Temporary Posistion for 6 months but has the potential to be extended.
Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours.
£15.00 + PAYE Competitive pay.
Within the principle aims of preventing offending by children and young people, to work with young people who are at risk of offending or re-offending, with a particular focus on high risk cases
Main Duties and Responsibilities
To undertake good quality assessments, using the appropriate assessment tools, for young people at risk of offending and re-offending. To complete these assessments in a timely manner.
To supervise young people utilising the principles of effective practice and restorative principles with the aim of reducing the risk of offending and protecting the public.
To provide packages of intervention to meet the needs of the young people, including undertaking referrals to colleagues and partner agencies as required
To co-work and support cases with other practitioners where a young person is accessed as high risk of harm or safety and wellbeing.
To help facilitate and deliver group work for young people.
To manage risk in the community and to show an understanding of, and commitment to, risk policies and procedures.
To undertake the duties of the Court Officer, providing quality information to court and being proactive in that role.
To participate in the out of hours court duty on a rota basis.
To participate in the duty rota, taking referrals, providing information as appropriate and facilitating volunteer attendance.
Requirements for post
Qualification in Social Work, Probation, Education (Including Youth and Community Work) or relevant health
Significant experience of working with children, young people at risk of offending and re-offending
Experience of working in the Criminal Justice
Knowlege of Youth Justice and safeguarding legislation and the operation of the youth justice system.
