Waking Night Worker
Edgware, Middlesex
Full time 36 Hrs - 4 nights per week 10pm to 7am
£7.91 per hour

About the job:

To provide overnight security for elderly people with physical disabilities and mental health illnesses. To work flexibly to ensure individual needs are met while maximising independence, choice, dignity, privacy and well-being, in collaboration with the senior care and support workers/team leaders.

Main accountabilities:

• To ensure all internal and external communal areas are kept clean and secure
• Be aware of Service Users wellbeing, safety, reporting any concerns
• Report repairs or concerns regarding the building to the appropriate parties
• To undertake administrative duties as directed.
• Ensure all necessary records are accurate and up to date (including the use of the in-house recording system - SUM)
• Read and write reports when necessary
• Support Service Users in raising awareness of health & safety issues, working in accordance with Risk Assessments
• Provide care and support that is appropriate to the age, gender, disability, race, religion and sexuality of the customer to improve their quality of life and independence.

About you:

• Experience of providing care and support to vulnerable people (voluntary experience also qualifies).
• Understanding of premises security
• Understanding of the Service User group
• Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation
• Knowledge of health & safety issues relating to support of vulnerable people
• Ability to work flexibly to meet customer and service requirements
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Availability for working unsocial hours, weekends and public holidays on a rota basis.
• Ability to work using own initiative and as a member of a team.
• Ability to undertake moving and handling tasks (including pushing of wheelchairs).
• Level 2/Diploma in Health & Social Care related subject area or equivalent, or a willingness to undertake Diploma training.
