As agency of choice to a growing number of secondary schools, Reed Education are finding increased demand across Stoke and Staffordshire for unqualified teachers – both to work as subject specialists and as cover supervisors in secondary schools.

Do you have the experience of delivering lessons specialising in a particular subject?

Can you plan and mark for KS3 and KS4?

Do you have the experience of a teacher just without a PGCE or QTS?

Have you previously trained as a teacher and are looking to return to Education?

If you feel like you have the subject knowledge and are looking for that opportunity to work in a classroom setting, I would love to hear from you.

Whatever area you specialise in, we get requests for subject specialists, including:

  • Working in an unqualified teaching role – leading classes, preparing work and undertaking the role and responsibility of the teacher. Some schools actively seek subject specialists above all else.
  • Working in a cover supervisor role – if you are looking to make the transition into a secondary setting, or are looking for temporary work relevant to your experience, this role would be ideal. Working to cover short term absences across the school, this can be a great way of building your skills to complement your subject knowledge.
  • Working as a Tutor or in Learning Support – some schools will look for someone with subject specialist knowledge to provide additional support to individual students to help them to reach aspirational goals.

Over the years, I have seen a number of my unqualified staff go on to undertake their PGCE and train to be qualified teachers, showing that even shorter term assignments can have a real impact on your career.

Although having a teaching qualification is not essential, the ideal candidates will be:

  • Dedicated to a career in Education
  • Have passion and knowledge of delivering engaging lessons
  • Strong behaviour management.
