REED Business Support Preston are proud to be recruiting exclusively for an established national FMCG company based in the heart of Bamber Bridge.

We are looking for an experienced Transport Planner to join their existing team of 4. Initially on a temporary basis but the role will go permanent for the right candidate.

Overall Purpose of the Role:
- Overseeing all planning and organisation of the North West transport arrangements to ensure customers receive their orders on time in full.
- Daily operational responsibility for all North West transport planning & movements.
- Supplier and Performance management of transport suppliers.
- Responsible for planning the most cost effective transport not compromising customer service
- Compliance with applicable laws and licensing.
- Ensure transport costs are in line with budget and any existing transport agreements.

Day to Day management and control
1. Attend daily team meetings to ensure business requirements are clearly understood, plans agreed, and that any transport issues are discussed and remedies agreed.
2. Ensure daily transport requirements are met.
3. Develop weekly plans and maintain excellent communication with sales and planning resources to understand and respond to any agreed changes to the plan.
4. Support the rest of the Group with Transport movements.
5. Focus on providing a cost effective and high quality of service to the end customer.
6. Ensure that excellent communication is maintained with the customer at all times, particularly with regard to the timing of deliveries, and advanced notice and management of customer expectations around any issues and their resolution.
7. Maintain a higher customer service level.
8. Responsible for maintaining the transport planning and transport booking systems.
9. Ensure transport costs are in line with any existing transport agreements.
10. Responsible for own fuel stock and monitoring of consumption and re-ordering.
11. Daily and weekly progressing reporting to the N.West Supply Chain Manager.

Skills and Qualifications:
- CPC knowledge and understanding ( training provided )
- At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
- Sound IT skills ( Microsoft Excel, word and outlook )
- Good working knowledge of GB geography and transport routes.
- Hands on, proactive, quick thinker
- Positive and highly motivated with can-do attitude
- Capable of quickly solving problems under pressure
- Excellent communications skills both verbal and written
- Customer Focused

Hours for the role 08.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday
Salary dependent on experience up to £23000 per annam

This role will be temporary initially for up 10 weeks but will go permanent for the right candidate.
