 FINANCIAL PLANNING - ASSOCIATE PARAPLANNER

Requirements:

• General administration experience in the financial planning sector
• Commitment to examinations and progress towards the Diploma in Financial Planning
• Computer software knowledge, particularly Word, Excel and preferably Intelligent Office (iO)

Experience in paraplanning support

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft Office and The Exchange
• Financial Analytics
• Completion of Certificate in Financial Planning or equivalent • Partial qualifications to Diploma status

Associate Paraplanner - current duties

75% Associate Paraplanning
25% Office Administration

Support the paraplanners and consultants
• oversee changes/restructures of clients’ financial planning requirements
• general client work (mostly investigative)
• attend, when requested, client meetings alongside the paraplanner and/or consultant

Annual Review Valuation Reports
• Report writing
• Obtaining additional information from providers regarding transactions/fund research/withdrawals/annual allowances
• Checking/correcting valuations

Occasional Financial Report writing
• Suitability letters
• ISA letters
• Fund switch letters – including assisting paraplanners with clients’ asset allocation breakdown and portfolio realignment to the benchmark risk profile

Collating Information and Documentation
• Obtaining illustrations, application forms, product and fund information from providers including charges, AMCs & TERs
• Exchange quotes
• Prepopulating forms and drafting letters of instruction
• Obtain information regarding products and investment funds
• Fund research

Training & Development

• Quarterly one-to-one meetings with line manager to assess and record progress and levels of attainment

The Training & Development log will include examples of:

• Work in relation to principle accountability tasks
• Updates on product and services knowledge
• Understanding of available products and services in all relevant areas of personal financial planning
• Understanding of administration procedures
• Attainment of key skills (including computer software eg iO, Financial Analytics)
• Analytical and numerical ability – interpretation and valuation of data
• Understanding of company practices and disciplines
• Understanding of investment performance
• Updates on changes to financial legislation and regulation
