Technical Support (To the Senior Engineer)

Reporting to: Senior Engineer
Location: Childerditch Depot
Role Purpose: To assist in the delivery and governance of Technical support services to provide a first class service to our customers, helping to ensure that all maintenance activities are delivered in accordance with the strategies and policies of the County Council and Essex Highways.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Proven experience in planning, coordination and organization of a range of activities
• Proven experience in analyzing reports
• Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Office applications
• Using own initiative to achieve results and to solve problems
• Excellent communicator in all mediums
• Effective time management and prioritisation skills
• Proven experience in undertaking organisation duties


Key Accountabilities:


• To provide Technical support to the SMO3 Engineering Team for the following areas:
o Finance
o Commercial
o Insurance
o Fleet
o Business and Programming Control
o Team Communications
o Operations and Maintenance
o Support to the Senior Engineer

• Literate in the Confirm Asset Database system or quick to learn

• Member and Customer Enquiries
o Manage the collation of all Member and Customer enquiries
o Provide a ‘front line’ service to the Member and Customer teams
o Maintain a database to act as a tracking system for all enquiries
o Respond appropriately in a timely manner to all enquiries
o Liaise with other with regard to any technical information that is required

• Cover the emergency call-out phone when required and raise P1 and P2 jobs as required
• Apply for statutory undertakers plans
• Design of 3 and 4 way temporary traffic light layout designs
• Assist Senior Engineer in monitoring and resolving KPI issues
• Request highway boundary plans as required by the team
• Gather information for defence of insurance claims
• Prepare and record team meeting agendas and minutes
• Monitor Senior Engineer’s emails for urgent matters in his absence
• Update Engineering Team processes and procedures
• Liaise with various teams to ensure commitments are met in connection to promised dates of delivery
• Collate and present reports prepared by the business for Senior Management meetings
• Answer all incoming calls, taking messages and deal with general enquiries in a timely manner
• Meet and greet visitors in their area in a professional manner as required
• Ensure all visitors sign in and out and the relevant people are informed of arrivals
• Provide administrative support to the Business and Programming Team during the monthly and annual business cycle
• Assist the Business and Programming Team in setting up performance and programming compliance and process measures
• Assist with internal performance audits and operational review meetings
• Manage general contact information for the service, such as email circulation and telephone lists.
• Maintain office documentation and general filing on a weekly basis.
