Technical Quality Officer

Our client has been in the business for several decades and has gone from strength to strength allowing it to shine as a market leader. 

As a service provider within it's specialised industry, they look to bring both elements of the sales & purchase process under one company for their large client base. 

They are currently looking to expand and add a Technical officer to them team to help develop a new area of the business. 

The overall responsibilities of the role would be: 

• Ensure all products meet current legislation, specification, food safety, BRC etc.
• Approve supplier base maintaining up to date documentation for suppliers through completion of SAQ or Physical Audits as and when required.
• Develop, implement and manage a Quality Management System with a view to implementing BRC for Traders/Brokers.
• Complete regular monitoring of HACCP and QMS systems, ensuring appropriate records are kept and implementing improvement actions where necessary.
• Manage supplier performance and the approval of new suppliers.
• Manage quality and technical issues on a daily basis.
• Write and maintain product specifications.
• Liaise closely with suppliers and customers, develop and maintain strong relationships with them.



The Technical abilities required would be: 

•The candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Technology or a related field and have a Minimum Level 3 (RSPH) award in HACCP.
• The candidate will have QA/technical/auditor experience in the food industry.
• Be Familiar with UK and EU legislation on food safety, labelling, contaminants etc.
• Have an extensive working knowledge of GFSI approved standards (BRC, IFS, FSSC 22000, etc.) and ISO 9001:2015.
• Ideally have a Lead auditor qualification and have strong auditing skills in a technical role against various recognised quality systems.

And ideally you'd hold the following attributes: 


• Should be highly analytical, organised with keen attention to detail.
• Flexible, personable and able to fit into a small team.
• Have excellent communications and organisation skills.
• Strong administration skills using Microsoft Office package software.
