INTRODUCTION

An extremely successful market leader in the UK, with operations in mainland Europe, my client is in an enviable position of not only designing, but also manufacturing, installing and maintaining complex, bespoke equipment across a multitude of industries.

Due to continued growth and to strengthen an established team they are now looking to recruit a Technical Manager to provide the link between the Design, Production/Manufacturing and Service parts of the business.

This is a critical role for the business and requires an experienced Manager with a background within manufacturing.


THE ROLE

The role of the Technical Manager is varied and extremely important to the business moving forward and will entail:

Taking responsibility for projects and providing support and guidance to the Engineering Team for designs and department activities for the manufacturing, installation and future servicing obligations.

You’ll be working with all levels of staff, ranging from Senior and Middle Management, Supervisors, Administrators and others involved in the project process.

Typically this will include:

• Ensuring a robust legal framework for:
o CE Marking and similar accreditations
o F Gas regulations
o Electrical Safety
• Managing 2 Design departments across 2 sites
• Reviewing design output for quality and suitability
• Provide authorisation for CE Certification
• Developing design, BOM (Bill of Materials) and similar related activities
• Supporting the Sales and Purchasing function
• Overseeing project documentation
• Managing and overseeing development projects
• Being involved with the standardisation of products and group standards across multiple sites
• Developing a 360 Quality format, across design, production/.manufacturing and service activities


THE PERSON

As this Technical Manager position is an important strategic role for the business, the ideal person will:

• Be an experienced People-Manager, who is proactive and enthusiastic about engineering and service
• Have a good understanding of the workings of a medium sized engineering company
• Be a solid team player who is creative and able to encourage others in the business

In order to be considered, it is expected that you will:

• Have a relevant Engineering qualifications (HND or higher) – Those with qualifications including Thermal Dynamics or CFD would be very well suited
• Have at least 5 years’ experience of leadership or management
• Have at least 7 years’ experience within a manufacturing environment
• Be able to demonstrate your managerial experience within a technical environment
• Have a working knowledge of 2D and 3D design software – ideally Inventor
• Have a general understanding of thermodynamic processes
• Have knowledge of technical specifications and how these translate to the manufacturing process
• Understand common production processes and installation
• Be familiar with CE Marking and how this relates to the design process in order to comply with legislation
• Carry excellent communication skills and the ability to relay information in a concise and informative way
