Excellent opportunity for a Specialist Teaching Assistant to support deaf/hearing impaired students.

An exceptional school, college and nursery are looking for a Teaching Assistant who has previous experience working with deaf and hearing impaired children to join their team. This school is for the hearing impaired, some pupils have additional needs but all have an Education Health Care Plan to meet their special educational needs.

The school is in a great located close to public transport. The staff all have basic awareness training and continuous training is provided for teachers and teaching assistants. They promote positive attitudes between hearing impaired children and encourage inclusive attitude. There is the opportunity for ongoing training while in this position.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Experience working with deaf/hearing Impaired students
• Knowledge of British Sign Language up to level 2
• Empathic and understand the safeguarding of children.
• Great behaviour management skills
• Able to use the appropriate skills when working with deaf/hearing Impaired students
• Flexible, able to use initiative and a must have a patient nature.
• Able to work well with teachers and other support staff
• Continuous training up to the national Vocational Qualification

Your role would be to assistant the students while they take part in their lessons .You would support them in a 1-1 capacity and when they are working groups. You would be working alongside qualified Teachers of the Deaf/Hearing Impairment, Specialist Teaching Assistants and Speech and Language Therapists.
