Teacher of English – Basingstoke
A qualified Teacher of English is required for long term cover at a secondary school in Basingstoke. The position is full time, for the Autumn Term starting September 2020.
The ability to teaching Religious Studies as a second subject is desirable, but not essential.
The school is a co-educational, local authority-maintained school, that caters to students aged 11-16. It is within close proximity to the centre of Basingstoke, so is easily assessable by public transport.
Planning and delivering engaging English lessons to KS3 and 4 pupils.
Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and overall understanding of the curriculum.
Mark work and monitoring pupil progress.
Managing student behaviour in line with school policy.
Ensure that pupils are properly safeguarded.
Offer pastoral support as a form tutor.
There may also be the opportunity to become involved with extracurricular activities if desired.
Qualified Teacher Status.
Entitlement to work in the UK.
Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service.
Patience and compassion when working with students with varying levels of ability and needs.
Good behaviour management and control of the classroom.
Flexibility and the ability to think on your feet.
A proven track record of excellent feedback within the classrooms.
