Role Description – Support Services Assistant G4
Roles commence on the 14th August – 31st October
Full Time - Monday to Friday 9am-5.30pm

General
• To serve as a member of the Support Services Team, supporting colleagues and delivering operational activities and services to a high standard.
• To carry out general duties as required and to deliver quality services to internal customers within the location, namely, Academic staff, Widening Access and Participation, Support Services and External Affairs.

Premises & Facilities
• Assist the SSM in the day to day running of location facilities, e.g. reception cover, switchboard, H&S, library services, deliveries, post, stationary & equipment orders, as required.

Provide reception cover as required; receiving visitors, answering queries both face to face and telephone/switchboard calls, maintain accurate records and assist with evacuation of staff and visitors in an emergency
Criteria

• Education, qualifications and training

Essential - GCSEs minimum Grade C or equivalent to include English and Mathematics, or the equivalent combination of qualifications/experience

Desirable - NVQ (Customer Services) Level 2/3 (or willingness to work towards). European Computer Driving License (ECDL)
• Knowledge, work and other relevant experience
Essential - Experience of reception-related duties. Experience of standard office procedures. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience of database entry and manipulation.
• General skills and capabilities for this grade
Essential - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. Commitment to excellent customer service. Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise tasks and work with detailed procedures. An ability to use initiative and judgment in problem-solving. A responsible, flexible and reliable approach to work coupled with a motivated and proactive attitude, helping, supporting and where appropriate guiding colleagues. Experience of working effectively either alone or in a team, and comfortable with working under pressure and switching between tasks, often at short notice. A willingness and desire to develop existing skills, as well as to learn new ones.
