Reed are proud to present a temporary Support Officer position based in Thirsk.


Support Officer is responsible for customer service delivery and co-ordinating the requests for service and support as part of the Support Services function.

Main Responsibilities

The provision of customer service on behalf of Support Services engaging with customers across the business to support the development of Support Services as a customer focused operation within North Yorkshire Police.

Development of end to end processes and procedures

To provide a first point of contact for both telephone enquiries and correspondence and to provide an effective, efficient and courteous response, ensuring a high quality service in accordance with Force Strategy, policies and procedures, performance management and measurement.

The proactive management of all administrative and financial processes relevant to the department to maximise their efficiency, ensuring compliance.

Administration and development of Support Services procurement activity to meet force commitments in terms of timescales, procurement legislation, contract regulations and best value including liaising with customers and suppliers and inputting requirements onto the purchasing system.  Ensuring prompt processing of invoices/ accounts.

Research and implement all opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency savings.

Management of the department’s incoming correspondence and track, trace and audit of all incoming correspondence requiring action. The maintenance of the departmental records through all approved repositories.

To assist in the organisation of functions/events including the organisation of meetings, room bookings and taking minutes as required.

Essential Skills and Experience

Good level of administration and customer service skills

Computer literate from basic data input to advance presentations and reporting.

Must have good communication skills and be articulate with attention to detail.

Preferable finance and procurement knowledge/working would be an advantage

Training will be provided for any immediate skill gaps in relation to bespoke systems used within Support Services.
