Description of requirement:
ONS is the UK’s largest independent producer of Official Statistics and is the recognised national statistics institute for the UK. It is responsible for collecting and publishing statistics related to the economy, population and society at national, regional and local levels. It also conducts the census in England and Wales every ten years. Our statistics help government, businesses and citizens to make informed decisions and choices, based on information they can trust.
ONS also plays a leading role in national and international good practice in the production of official statistics. It is the executive office of the UK Statistics Authority.

Your responsibilities:

At a high level, the post holder will be expected to:

• Helping ONS to identify new data sources for areas where there are data gaps at a national level, by working with the data science campus and ONS data science teams to commission data development work around economic indicators for SDGs.

• Collecting and assessing existing economic, social and environmental data sources within a) government, b) local government and c) non-governmental organisations.

• Quality assures data from government and non-government organisations to ensure that standards comply with an agreed toolkit before being published.

• Provide economic analysis for SDGs.

Work to wider-SDGs goals and targets to ensure key milestones are met.
