Priory Hospital Lincolnshire is a low secure unit for males with mental illnesses and personality disorders. Located in Gainsborough in Lincolnshire, the hospital has 28 beds to support those who are detained under the Mental Health Act.

The hospital was rated good during the last CQC inspection in March 2019.

Our service consists of two wards:

Lancaster – 14-bedded ward for males who require stabilisation and support to decrease their levels of challenging behaviour.

Scampton – 14-bedded ward providing continuing care with a focus on rehabilitation, community reintegration and preparing the person to move further along the care pathway, or to community living

As a Specialty Doctor you will work closely with the Consultant Psychiatrist to provide medical cover on a daily basis to the patients on the ward.

The successful applicant will join an established MDT on the unit, which includes a psychologist, an OT, and social worker. The maximum caseload is 28, and this is consistent with consultant-led specialist service with Specialty Doctor support.

Alongside the Consultant, you will care for the patients, referred to the unit usually from forensic settings. During working hours, you will be responsible for reviewing the mental and physical state of patients throughout the working week.

Other duties include:

Assessment, appropriate investigation, diagnosis and treatment under Consultant supervision of inpatients. Each patient must be interviewed and reassessed at a frequency appropriate to their individual clinical needs and sufficient to monitor changes and make timely modifications to the treatment plan.
Good communication with ward staff, including morning handovers daily.
To participate in treatment plans and programmes as appropriate to ensure good medical practice within the MDT settings.
