We are looking for an experienced solicitor with at least 2 years PQE in public housing and local government.

You will undertake legal work on behalf of the Council, principally relating to public housing law, civil litigation, property law, and general local government law, including advocacy.

Key Responsible:

Undertake various legal work in particular relating to public housing law, civil litigation, property law and general local government law.

Represent the Council (or arrange representation) in Courts, Inquiries, Panels, etc. and at meetings with individuals and outside bodies as and when required.

Attend and advise meetings of the Council and of Cabinet, Committees Sub-Committees and Working Parties / Panels and to deal with legal work arising from such meetings.

Provide advice to Council Departments and generally to ensure compliance with the law and the Council’s Constitution.

Assist senior management of the Service on specific projects associated with the functions of the Service.

Undertake such research and training as may be required for the better performance of the duties of the post, including, but not limited to, complying with requirements of the Law Society and / or Solicitors Regulation Authority.

Qualifications - Essential:

Solicitor (or Barrister) with current practicing certificate with at least two year's post qualification experience.

A knowledge of the law relating to public housing, civil litigation, property and general local government law.

Experience in civil litigation, property and general local government law.
