Reed are currently recruiting Qualified Social Workers for an Adults Mental Health team for a client in North West London. 

You must be HCPC registered with a degree in Social care or equivalent. 

Ideally you will have a minimum of 2 years post qualifying expereince within a statutory Mental Health Team previously. 


Purpose of Post

To work within a multi-disciplinary CMHT, carrying out assessments on people with severe and enduring mental health needs, and taking on the role of CPA Care Co-ordinator. To act as Approved Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) or to undertake training to become an AMHP.

Duties

To carry out high quality, service user-centred assessments taking into account risk, health, social and cultural needs.

To carry out risk assessments following the local policy.

To act as an AMHP, carrying out the range of roles and responsibilities defined in the Mental Health Act, or to prepare for and undergo AMHP training through the agreed route (PQ1).

To carry out Carers’ Assessments and draw up Carers’ Care Plans where appropriate.

To develop with service users’ creative CPA care plans based on their assessed needs, and to ensure maximum use of non-mental health service options and culturally appropriate services.

To investigate the quality and cost of service providers using negotiation skills to ensure that the best value is achieved for council money.

To be responsible for monitoring the quality and appropriateness of the CPA care plan you create, liaising closely and negotiating with service providers and members of the multi-disciplinary team.

To act as the CPA Care Co-ordinator, fulfilling all the responsibilities of that role.

To act as a social supervisor fulfilling the responsibilities under section 41 of the Mental Health Act.

To be largely self-servicing in relation to your personal administrative needs, using a personal computer and networked software.

To provide high quality reports and to be responsible for ensuring that all client files are kept in good order in accordance with local procedures.

To promote customer care by treating service users, carers, referrers and other agencies with dignity, respect and courtesy at all times.

To work constructively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

To ensure that the protection and development of children is actively promoted in our work, including referral to children’s social work and to the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services where appropriate.

To bring to the attention of a senior member of staff any matter likely to cause significant concern.

To prepare for and undergo supervision in line with the Brent Mental Health Service Supervision Procedure.

To prepare for and undergo Performance Appraisal in line with Brent Mental Health Service Performance Appraisal Procedure, and to attend training as required.

To keep abreast of policy and best practice and to apply this research and theory in everyday work.
