My client is a major international player in automotive part manufacturing.  They currently have an opportunity for a Shipping Team Leader based in Royston. 

The working hours are 8:15am to 16:30 Monday to Thursday and 8:15 to 15:45 on Fridays. 

The Shipping Team Leader is accountable for leading the Shipping team within the PGMS UK Business to deliver outstanding customer satisfaction, through the development and application of robust and disciplined systems to ensure that all shipments to and from the business are carried out safely, efficiently, accurately and on time.

EHS, Quality and Security
 Support EHS principles in order to ensure that EHS is given top priority and good practice is followed at all times.
 Ensure that the shipment of all dangerous goods is carried out in compliance with the appropriate legislation and safety standards
Supply Chain Delivery
 Monitor and manage the deliveries due for all areas of the PGMS business. Communicate, expedite and escalate within the operation team and management to ensure a very high level of delivery performance
 Develop Customer delivery performance metrics, measure, monitor and report performance. Identify and document improvement plans.
 Manage all shipping related customer complaints, analyse and identity root cause and develop and implement permanent corrective actions.
 Develop and implement a plan to integrate the shipping functions of the three UK business units and deliver significant improvements in productivity and flexibility
 Ensure robust and disciplined administration and documentation processes are in place to ensure safe, efficient, accurate and compliant shipment activities are carried out, frequently audit shipment processes and identify improvement opportunities.
 Develop a highly skilled and flexible team in the shipping department, ensure that a training matrix is in place, that the team continuously progress and develop, particularly in the areas of IT skills, Shipping and Logistics.
 Develop and Implement a Shipping initiatives list to deliver significant Logistics cost reduction in collaboration with the purchasing team.
 Control and prioritise outbound picking activities.
Manage, troubleshoot and problem solve inbound / import shipment activities as appropriate.

LEAN / Continuous Improvement
 Develop expertise in all shipping related IT systems.
 Support the Advanced Supply Chain Team with the structured collection, storage, analysis and reporting of business Data.
 Develop and maintain Standard Work and Standard operations for all Shipping tasks..
 Use of LEAN tools such as VSM, Root Cause Problem solving etc to deliver efficiencies in the supply chain function

 Lead and manage the activities of the PGMS UK Shipping Team
 Support the Advanced Supply Chain Team in the development of robust business processes and delivering high data integrity

 The job holder will need to have a strong passion and enthusiasm for supply chain particularly in the area of shipping and transportation. Be someone who thrives in an environment of change but is able to work on the detailed administrative activity when necessary.
 Tenacious and persuasive

 Degree or equivalent in relevant discipline ideally supply chain or Business related.
 Ideally qualified as a DGSA
 Demonstrable experience and knowledge of Supply Chain processes, ISO9001 and ISO18001.
 Experience of Supply Chain systems and implementation of new processes.
 Significant IT skills,.
 Ideally knowledge of ERP business systems and how to interface with the business.

 Excellent communication skills, both written / verbal and good organisational ability of self and others.
 Ability to lead and develop a team
 Ability to work autonomously under pressure, managing their own time to enable the meeting of deadlines for goals and objectives.
 Ability to build relationships across the business and gain improved understanding.
