Are you currently working in Production at a supervisory/managerial level and looking for a change?

REED’s Midlands based Engineering Team are working alongside a global manufacturing company, who supply products to large retailers and they’re looking for a Shift Production Manager to join an established team and ensure the successful running of a shift.


The role of the Shift Production Manager will be to act as the main point of contact on shift, overlooking operations and delivering successful production.

The Manager will also take responsibility for Health and Safety of themselves, colleagues and anyone else may be on site. This is a paramount feature for this role and will be demonstrable throughout in the forms of risk assessments, tool box talks and other scenarios where you must put knowledge into practice

It will also be your responsibility to manage, develop and train staff, ensuring that their skills are maintained and tested and their attitudes focused on tasks at hand. You will be a leader and someone that others can approach and aspire to being. Your role will also entail creating succession plans for employees and guide them to the next stage in their career.

Being involved with World Class Manufacturing processes and projects will also be part of the workload, whether you’re leading or partaking. The mind set of Continuous and Process Improvement is instilled on site with each and every employee, and whilst you may not be able to come up with ideas that could save the company millions of pounds or hours of time, you should be able to offer ideas that could improve even the smallest of things on site.

Of course the successful Production of the product is equally as important and you will be responsible for a smooth running shift, which will include:

- Handovers at the beginning and at the end of shifts.
- Monitoring of KPIs
- Dealing with any issues that arise
- Potentially offering support and being a point of contact for other areas of the business e.g. packing/distribution.

The role itself will have other responsibilities that can be discussed at a later stage.


The right person for this role will be someone who can display the following or something quite similar:

- Management of staff within a Production environment (numbers always vary, but the attitude and aptitude of the person will be discussed)
- Working in an environment that’s automated
- Working in an environment where a wider business approach is needed, often dictated by the need to supply to customers
- A good knowledge of Health and Safety, potentially having a recognised qualification (IOSH/NEBOSH)
- Previous experience within a company who put a focus on World Class Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement/Process Improvement/Lean Methodologies
