Reed are currently seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join an Adults OP/PD team in the London Borough of Brent. 

Job Duties:
To support the Team Manager in securing the continuous development, improvement, efficiency and success of the Team as a whole. The Senior Practitioner will work alongside, and support, the Team Manager in providing specialist advice, guidance, support and supervision to a range of qualified and non-qualified staff working in Adult Social Care and Transitions. The Senior Practitioner will be directly responsible for supervising a group of staff within their specific team and dealing with day to day quality assurance, customer care and performance issues reporting to the Team Manager only when required. The Senior Practitioner will chair specialist meetings such as Safeguarding Strategy Meetings and be responsible for the implementation of Safeguarding Plans. The Senior Practitioner will be required to work flexibly in this role, cover for colleagues when required, including the Team Manager, and cover across the service area as the needs of the service dictate. The Senior Practitioner may carry a small complex caseload as agreed with the Team Manager. No directly controlled delegated budget but supports the Team Manager in delivering a balanced budget for the Team; however the Senior Practitioner will have delegated powers to agree support packages up to the value of £250 per week. Work proactively to make a positive contribution to the delivery of the service. This will include working flexibly and positively to achieve the objectives of the Council. Provide supervisory management to staff teams to achieve high performance and effective operational delivery, which includes developing and improving the capability of staff within the work area, motivating and mentoring them to better meet the current and future requirements of the unit. Provide a customer focused service. Foster a consistent cross One Council culture by ensuring that Council’s overall vision, values and ethos are central to the approach taken. Ensure the effective use of resources in the Team. Working closely with the Team Manager to support effective working relationships and acting as an ambassador and advocate with external organisations as required. The postholder must at all times carry out duties with due regard to the Councils customer care; equal opportunities; information governance and health and safety policies and procedures. To take on and lead the team on the Lead Professional role and the Trusted Assessor role. Work flexibly and positively to achieve the objectives of the Council. To understand the value of information to the council and to contribute to good information governance by keeping information safe, secure, accurate and up to date and available to those who need it. Abide by the council’s information governance policies. To be responsible for the day to day operation of teams ensuring they meet quality standards in all aspects of service delivery. To undertake the recruitment of staff within the agreed Council recruitment procedures. To be responsible for the implementation of the Council’s disciplinary, grievance, capability, sickness, harassment, health and safety policies and other relevant personnel procedures, in relation to supervisees. Undertake any other duties commensurate with the general level of responsibility of this post. The Senior Practitioner is the day to day supervisory lead for the Team and has overall operational responsibility and full accountability when delegated for.
