A Senior Project Manager is required at a large public sector client in Newcastle for a 3 months+ contract.

Extensive public sector experience is required.

Day to day management of project resources, including the identification and escalation to the Programme Manager of resource gaps where appropriate and directing, motivating and assigning responsibilities to the project team.
To undertake a project management role, to help deliver all changes to the Rural Payments Agency.

The post holder will be responsible for the end to end development and delivery of a change project, working to ensure that they are implemented on time and within budget, in line with the requirements of RPA and OGC Gateway standards.

The post holder will be responsible for all aspects of the project management process, including recording deliverables and key milestones, recording risks and issues and helping to identify mitigation activities and controls, monitoring and reporting against allocated budgets, supporting delivery of the technical design and development of project plans.

Key tasks
To manage the delivery of the project objectives to a plan including identification and monitoring of critical project milestones.
To implement a governance framework in accordance with Change’s established practice.
Prepare and maintain all appropriate project documentation e.g. developing clear convincing Business cases, Project Plans (including phase, stage and exception plans as necessary), Project Initiation Documents (PID) and Lessons Learned reports.
Developing and maintaining productive working relationships with the project sponsors, stakeholders, users, technology groups and vendors during all stages of the project lifecycle, to support implementation, including experience and understanding of business change.
Working closely with all stakeholders and strategic partners in the delivery of the project objectives.
Day to day management of project risks and issues, including their escalation where appropriate and ensuring lessons learned are documented and communicated to the Programme Manager following the project go live.
Creation and submission of weekly project status reports, showing progress and forecasts against the schedule and budget to the Programme Director, Programme Manager and PMO.
Day to day management of project resources, including the identification and escalation to the Programme Manager of resource gaps where appropriate and directing, motivating and assigning responsibilities to the project team.
