Reed Engineering is currently recruiting for a leading manufacturing company near Cardiff. This is a permanent position and an exciting opportunity to join a team working on a number of new products and taking to market globally.

We are looking for an experienced New Product Development Engineer who has extensive experience of taking products from Design to Manufacturing using techniques such as injection moulding and die casting. 

• Reviewing and suggesting improvements on new product developments
• Detailed evaluation of drawings/specifications against suppliers capabilities
• Support/chair product meetings with other areas of business
• Delivering progress meetings on live projects
• Investigating and resolving component and process issues for NPD / NPI elements
• Establishing Quality standards for individual and assembled components
• Holding discussions with suppliers on continuous improvement opportunities
• Formulate protection/ packaging methods for home and international markets
• Supporting the introduction of all new products into a production environment
• Overseeing the creation of work instructions
• Performing and coordinate the testing of products internally and externally
• Raising of engineering changes where applicable
• Liaising with internal customers
• Liaising with suppliers to ensure resolution of quality problems
• Implementing corrective actions (where necessary)
• Participation in and chairing of FMEA & PFMEAs
• Work within ISO9001 Quality Management Systems

• A proven new product development / implementation background from within high volume manufacturing
• Demonstrable hands-on approach working with materials and processes such as injection moulding, die casting, CNC woodwork and metals manipulation
• A strong working knowledge of specifying geo-metric tolerances on drawings for consistent parts manufacturing
• Experience from within the furniture industry and bringing international products to market
• Demonstrable ability of developing products to comply to European / Worldwide standards
• Excellent project management skills
• A logical and methodical approach to problem solving
• Capable of presenting at various levels both verbally and visually
• Experience of producing work instructions
• Competent user of Microsoft Office Software, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc
• Proficient in the use of 3D CAD software (ideally Solidworks)
• Focus on continuously improving quality standards through the application of best practice
