Senior IT Server Engineer

This person and culture focussed business is looking for a new Senior IT Server Engineer to manage and maintain server environment and Microsoft server clusters. Day to day you will be responsible for managing and maintaining a server environment and administering core Microsoft, Cisco, Citrix, and VMware technologies. You will assist with the development and implementation of project plans, risk assessments and contingency plans. Mentoring and training team members on new and existing server technologies will be a key part of this role as you will be the go-to person.



  • Design, install and configure internal and customer facing server infrastructure
  • Mentor / cross train team members on existing and new server technologies
  • Develop the server support team into a unified cross location function
  • Manage and maintain server environment and Microsoft server clusters
  • Assist with the development and implementation of project plans, risk assessments and contingency plans
  • Design and implement monitoring, configuration management and reporting functions that will make a hands-off environment
  • Support core Microsoft, Cisco, Citrix and VMware technologies
  • Hardware, firewall, telecoms and software vendor evaluation, recommendation and negotiations
  • Occasional out of hour support may be required


Skills required includes extensive experience with the following:

  • Windows Server (2012/2016/2019)
  • Desktop Operating Systems (Win 7/10)
  • Managing in excess of large (100+ Physical/Virtual) Windows Server infrastructure
  • A solid understanding of LAN/WAN networking
  • Active Directory/LDAP user and group administration
  • Managing deployments/rollouts
  • Group Policy design and configuration
  • Migration of Exchange 2010 to 365
  • Citrix/2X/Terminal Server installations
  • Managing VMWare Server/ESX or Microsoft Hyper-V/Virtual Server
  • Ability to troubleshoot network issues including back bone infrastructure issues
