We are currently recruiting for a Senior Heat Engineer to ensure that the heat networks and energy generation plant designed and adopted by the Group meet all relevant technical standards to ensure compliance with the Code of Practice for Community Heating Networks, Legislation, Regulations, and other industry and internal standards. This is a Home based position managed from our Cardiff office.

Key Responsibilities
• To ensure energy generation assets, and heating and cooling distribution assets that are either adopted or managed by the group are designed, installed and adopted, as "fit for purpose" and in accordance with current industry best practice.
• Working in conjunction with the Engineering Manager Heat and the Sales and Major Projects Team, to undertake the detailed design of assets in accordance to the agreed connect design with clients and site specific energy strategy.Design work to include both generation and distribution assets.
• Return of detailed designs under strict SLA timescales as defined by the Engineering Manager Heat and the Heat and Water Senior Management Team.
• Active in assessing competencies to ensure persons involved in concept and sales design activities whether in house or external to the Group are competent, meet the minimum requirements for qualifications and/or experience for the work.
• Evaluating, undertaking and planning complex network designs for projects ensuring designs meet all operational requirements whilst minimising capital and operational requirements.Designs submitted to the Engineering Manager Heat for Approval.
• Evaluating, undertaking and planning energy centre and renewable energy plant design for projects ensuring designs meet all operational requirements whilst minimising capital and operational requirements.Designs submitted to the Engineering Manager Heat for Approval.
• Audit and manage the KPI and SLA performance of sub-contractors that are managing the group energy centre, heat and distribution assets from design up-to and including commissioning and performance testing.Raise any performance non-compliance to the Engineering Manager Heat for remediation.
• Liaise with the other managers within the Group on the design, delivery, construction and operation of other assets to ensure a coordinated approach of delivery across all group activities.
• Other duties as defined by the Heat and Water Assets Senior Management team that fall within the general experience scope of the individual, which may include work on behalf of other operating division from time to time.



Qualifications/Experience
Ideally:
• Be accredited to Incorporated Engineer Status with appropriate Engineering Institution and be willing to work towards Chartered Status
• Hold a suitable recognised engineering or scientific qualification.
• Have a proven track-record in the design and delivery of energy centre and heat and cooling distribution assets being fluent in the use of detailed design software, including but not limited to AutoCAD.
• Have a working knowledge of current Legislation, Technical Standards & Specifications, Codes of Practice and recommendations relating to Energy Generation and Heat and Cooling Distribution assets.

• Position is based from Home although position holder will be expected to work from other Group offices and operating sites as required

• To become part of the Tier 2 heat and water 24/7 on-call team, alongside existing duties, role holder will be put on the on-call rota.
