Reed Accountancy & Finance are recruiting for a Senior Finance Business Partner, to join a large organisation, with a 300 strong team. This role is joining the Finance, Commissioning & Procurement department. The successful candidate will have the right values, commitment and motivation to make a difference.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of finance business partners in supporting the Companies revenue finances. Using professional judgement, skills, and expertise to analyse and interpret rules, information, and situations in order to give specialist advice and support across the service areas.
You will have a strong financial background, possess good communication and report writing skills, and an ability to challenge in an effective manner. You will need to be able to work well independently, as a member of a team and be able to lead a team.
a) Provide all direct reports with first line revenue financial support including aligning budgets and resources to strategic priorities and specific projects/tasks that are undertaken by the team, that require financial advice, modelling, business cases etc.
b) Ensure effective Revenue Finance Business Partner model is operating across the organisation providing high-level support to the organisation, with close links with the other Business Partners including HR, and C&P.
c) Develop, review and improve strategies, policies and/or procedures that reflect changing external and internal requirements and regulations and the changing funding and welfare reforms.
d) Deliver effective and new ways of working within the team to achieve further efficiencies. Ensure delivery to key deadlines, challenging existing procedures and methodologies.
e) Ensure Financial Planning is robust - including review, update and produce the Medium-Term Financial Strategy, HRA Business Plan, annual revenue budgets, business rates and council tax, taking into account the changing funding regimes, strategic and service priorities
f) Support the Assistant Manager – Financial Accountant on the preparation and delivery of committee reports
g) Supporting in the preparation of the annual statement of accounts.
h) Ensure all key financial controls are in place and up to date and that financial advice and information related to all activities are timely, accurate and meaningful.
Skills and experience required
a) CIPFA, ACCA or CIMA. Degree – or equivalent experience and knowledge. Not essential but desired. Also happy to consider AAT, QBE or Part Qualified candidates.
b) Excellent communicator with well developed inter-personal skills and the ability to explain complex financial matters to non-practitioners.
c) Highly self-motivated. Ability to prioritise a range of competing and complex demands and meet changing deadlines effectively. Helps to produce solutions or strategies over more than a year.
d) Strong analytical skills and lateral thinking approach to problem solving. Good IT skills. Project Management skills desirable.
e) Able to create productive and organised teamwork. Team Player.
f) Analyses and interprets varied and complex situations and problems.
g) Uses developed negotiating or persuasive skills in order to encourage others to adopt a particular course of action

- Salary £35,000-£42,000 depending on skills, experience and qualifications
