One of the largest local authorities in London are looking to recruit a Senior Digital Communications Content Officer on an initial 3 months contract with possibility of further extensions if all goes well. It is a full-time role Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week. The role will be work from home for at least the first few months and maybe even beyond. 

Purpose of the role

To engage residents and other stakeholders with council priorities through the development and delivery of creative and high-quality content across a range of on and offline channels (both councils run and owned by others).

Working across a range of traditional and digital channels including the corporate website, microsites, social media and print publications (such as the residents’ magazine, posters, direct mail etc…), the postholder will play a key role in telling the council’s story, communicating the corporate priorities and creating compelling campaigns about the work the council is doing to make the area fairer. They will need to juggle multiple projects, delivering high quality, engaging content and campaigns on time and on message. 

Key responsibilities

  1. To support the Communications and Content Manager to develop, implement and deliver a digital communications and engagement strategy to engage residents and other key stakeholders with the council’s vision and priorities, support behaviour change and promote and protect the council’s reputation.
  2. Working closely with the Strategic Communications Leads, create multi-channel, content led campaigns in support of the council’s corporate and strategic priorities, ensuring that activity is appropriately targeted and positioned to engage relevant audiences and encourages behaviour change where applicable.
  3. To be responsible for the co-ordination, production and evaluation of corporate or high-level publications such as the council tax mailing and the school admissions brochure. Ensuring high quality, value for money results, in line with deadlines and corporate frameworks and standards.
  4. To play a key role in the development, delivery and evaluation of the council’s brand strategy and channels, growing engagement with as a community brand, and delivering the monthly e-bulletin and quarterly magazine. As part of this, take the lead on planning, researching and editing all content, including sourcing or commissioning appropriate case studies, and creating audio/visual content.
