The job
Design, development and delivery of big data platforms, integration frameworks, processes and code.

Requirements
• End-to-end BI solution design and development
• Practical experience of the Microsoft SQL Server BI stack including SQL Server (2012 +), Integration Services, Analysis Services, Reporting Services
• Expertise in OLAP/Dimensional models
• Expertise in query tuning, index creation, database optimisation and troubleshooting
• Experience in gathering and analysing business requirements
• Knowledge in big data cloud architectures with proven experience working with Microsoft Azure big data technologies (e.g. data lakes)
• Good understanding of application life cycle management ideally using TFS or Visual Studio Online
• Experience of data ingestion tooling an advantage
• Relevant work experience in Tech related teams
• Extensive database experience (preferably Microsoft) working with multi-terabyte, 24/7 uptime database systems

Responsibilities
• Acts as subject matter expert for cloud data services, technically leading the company approach to big data solutions, designing and implementing cloud data services as appropriate
• Contributes to the data platform roadmap, utilising the latest technologies, as required
• Designs and implements ETL strategies and solutions using SSIS 2012+
• Designs, develops, configures, debugs/tests, implements, manages and documents BI solutions and processes
• Designs and develops SSIS packages, stored procedures and ETL code
• Undertakes data transformation and tuning / optimising code
• Ensures all code is version controlled, all work is clearly documented and centrally located and standards, design styles and best practices are enforced
• Provides technical oversight and coaching to the rest of the team for Cloud/Big data services

Key activities
• Works closely with the business to ensure clear understanding of data
• Engage with stakeholders to understand business needs and requirements
• Works with wider Tech team to ensure a stable environment and continuity of service
• Coach other members of Tech on new data technologies and ways of working
