SENIOR CUSTOMER INFORMATION OFFICER
My client are a South East London Local Government office who are seeking a Senior Customer Information Officer with a strong understanding of Governance.
You will provide advice and guidance on information governance matters to the Council and partners.
You’ll work closely with senior managers to assess information governance risk and play a key role in the delivery of the Information Governance Service to ensure compliance and meet statutory obligations as required under the Data Protection Act 2018.
You’ll be part of a team who are the first point of contact for information governance enquiries across the Council and provide expert knowledge and advice on ensuring our compliance with legislation.
Experience and skills:
To support the Customer Information Manager to deliver a full Information Governance service to the Council
To provide advice, guidance and support to services across the Council and in Schools for all elements of Information Governance, specifically Data Protection, Records Management, Data Sharing Agreements, Transparency Agenda,
Act as subject matter expert on data protection and information security in accordance with the Data Protection Regulation
Work closely with senior managers in the Council to ensure compliance with the Data Protection Regulation, address and develop data protection policies, procedures and action plans where gaps exist
Participate in drafting of relevant policies, procedures and processes, meeting compliance obligations and contribute to continuous developments in the Council
Provide a full end-to-end Data/Information Sharing service to the Council and its partner organisations; from understanding the requirements of those parties by conducting DPIA’s, working to identify each party’s requirements; negotiating and drafting Data Sharing Agreements and gaining relevant sign-off; ensuring a best practice approach to ensure full compliance with the Data Protection Act and/or other relevant legislation; completing security and technical risk-assessments, when necessary, to fully understand the implications and risks of data sharing, so that they can be effectively minimised or mitigated
Contribute to creating a best practice approach, with Records Management, to improve data integrity, within own team and across the Council’s services; by ensuring compliance with relevant legislation (Data Protection Act) and internal data quality standards; dealing with areas of risk, or non-compliance, and/or escalating to own manager as appropriate.
Full and comprehensive understanding of the Data Protection Act and its application within the public sector, or similar complex organisation
Good understanding of Data Protection Act and its application within the public sector, or similar complex environment
Understanding of other associated standards relating to information governance
Experience of administering/fulfilling ICT security standards and compliance in relation to Data Protection and some awareness of Codes of Connection Submissions and conducting DPIA’s would be beneficial
