Reed Education Cardiff are working with an amazing PRU school near Torfaen, seeking a Teaching Assistant who specialises in numeracy and literacy support.

This school caters for Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils with Social, Emotional and Behavioural difficulties (SEBD). All pupils who attend have either experienced significant emotional difficulties that stopped them from attending school, or they have been permanently excluded or are at risk of exclusion.

The school received a very good Estyn report due to the conscientious teaching staff who consistently support and encourage their students to ensure they have no gaps in their learning due to missed attendance from mainstream school. In addition the motivate staff also encourage students confidence to enhance their personal development.

This role involves supporting the teacher with numeracy and literacy lessons, this will involve planning and preparation to ensure the educational progression of students. In addition the role involves encourage and fostering the personal developments of students building confidence and self-esteem.

The ideal candidate will:

• Have experience in working with children with SEN, particularly children with SEBD
• Hold a DBS that entitles you to work with children and adults (Reed are happy to provide this if you don’t have one)
• Ideally be Team Teach trained (desired, not essential)
• Have a passion for teaching numeracy and literature
