Reed Education are currently working with an Independent SEN School in West Berkshire who are currently looking for a Learning Support Assistant to work with 11 to 18 year old students with mental health and behavioural needs as well as some with ASD, MLD and other complex needs.
The successful person would be someone who considers themselves a resilient individual, the children of this school will have all suffered trauma or neglect in some way and will naturally be challenging in their behaviour due to this.
As well as resilient the successful person will have a passion for working with children and building lasting relationships with not just the students but parents, social workers and other teachers of the school.
This school has an ethos of understanding, compassion and belief in supporting each individual student in their own individual way. This is done by setting boundaries by allowing students choices, giving them ownership over their own decisions to enable them to leave school with the necessary life skills.
The school is situated in rural West Berkshire and caters for looked after children with social and emotional needs, in addition to a variety of SEN, including ASD. Due to the current plans for expansion, there will be numerous opportunities for career progression as well as receiving ongoing CPD from a highly experienced SEN Head Teacher.
You will be an individual who can work effectively with students who have a variety of special needs. Specific experience with complex emotional and mental health needs, including looked after children is highly desirable. An interest in sports is particularly desirable, in order to take advantage of the rural setting.
Please get in touch as soon as possible to discuss the school further and to potentially be booked in to tour the school and meet the lead primary teacher.
