A lovely school in Leatherhead, which was rated as ‘good’ by Ofsted in their inspection last year is inviting applications for Teachers of Science to join their friendly and caring school. The school is growing and developing and as a result, additional staff are required for their Science team.
You will be joining an established and supportive department with a Head of Department and subject leads in place for Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The role offered is for a permanent role to teach Key Stage 3-4 Science, although applications for those looking for a part time role will be welcomed.
The school has achieved excellent academic results at GCSE and A Level over recent years. This has included GCSE results which continue to exceed national expectations with a value added measure score for student progress of well over 1000 (the national benchmark) as well as AS and A2 results that are in the top 25% of the whole country. As a staff group they are committed to ensuring that every student can achieve their very best in all exams.
The school's goal is to help young people develop the skills, knowledge, qualifications, character, and ambition to become outstanding citizens able to access opportunities and life chances. They want them to become individuals who make positive contributions in the world in which they live and who become true leaders. This is a family school where themes of respect, tolerance, fair play, good manners, and hard work can be seen in action every single day and this is reflected in the warm and positive atmosphere at the school.
The school is located a ten minute walk from Leatherhead Station, making it accessible for teachers in Surrey or beyond. There is also the possibility of on site accommodation for those who are relocating to the area.
Applications are invited from:
- Teachers with a QTS or an equivalent UK teaching qualification
- Teachers with a science qualification to degree level or higher
- Teachers with experience in teaching general science across Key Stage 3-4
- Teachers who create a positive and inclusive learning and teaching environment for all students
- Teachers who have some A Level experience or would like to develop this
The school is committed to the safeguarding and protection of all the students and staff, so you should have an Enhanced DBS which is registered on the update service or be willing to apply for one (this will require a police check).
The role is available on a permanent basis or a fixed term contract from September 2020. The role is paid to London Fringe.
