My client is seeking a Part - time caretaker to join the existing team on a Temporary to Permanent basis.

This role is for an experienced care taker with good handyman skills who must have previous experience within an identical role. The Permanent salary will be 16,600 based on a 3 day working week. ( Monday - Wednesday ). Those who have a trade background will be desirable but not essential. The hourly rate will range from £10 - £13 per hour depending on experience.

You will have 20 days holiday per year as well as a pension and other company benefits.

The Maintenance Assistant – Semi Skilled reports to the Foreman of Maintenance who is responsible for allocating the daily work schedule. In the absence of the Foreman of Maintenance, the Maintenance Assistant - Semi Skilled reports to and takes direction from the Deputy Foreman.

Be competent in the use of tools and access equipment.

To work alone without direct supervision, providing detailed lists of materials to enable the work to be carried out.

To evaluate tasks on behalf of the Foreman when occasion demands, deciding on the level and urgency of response required and to provide a list of materials to complete the work.

6. To carry out any other general duties assigned to them by the Foreman of Maintenance.

To carry out work in accordance with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and attend any course or training sessions aimed at improving H & S awareness as directed by the Foreman of Maintenance.

Required to join the Duty Engineer Roster to assist in dealing with on site emergencies out of normal working hours. Duties will not commence until there has been adequate familiarisation with the site. The Duty Engineer is on call for a period of 7 days (1 week). Out of hours will consist of 5pm through to 8am on weekdays, and from 4pm Friday through to 8am on the following Monday to cover weekends.

General Duties & Responsibilities

To maintain confidentiality at all times and to comply with policy thus ensuring security in the management and use of information.

To contribute to close working relationships with all personnel and to help to build an open, honest and happy culture that facilitates learning, creativity and excellence of delivery.

To be empathetic and courteous to those on the premises treating them with care and consideration at all times and referring any issues or incidents directly to management/nursing staff as appropriate.

To undertake any other duties at the request of the line manager which are commensurate with the role, including project work, absence cover and taking part in College events.

To comply with the policies and procedures  at all times.

To work in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and related regulations; understanding the health and safety policy and ensuring that care is taken to protect the health, safety and welfare of staff  This will include reporting of faulty equipment to the relevant manager.
