Reed Education are working on behalf of a Specialist School and College who offer high quality education and care for young people aged 7-25 with a wide range of special educational needs. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who is positive about learning disabilities to join the team.

The Safeguarding Manager & Behaviour Team Member shall have due regard to the following best practice requirements

• having regard to and observing all matters relating to policies and procedures;
• having regard to, and observing all matters relating to the supporting behaviour policy and, as an essential part of your work, demonstrate respect, and ensure dignity of the individual learners; promoting self-esteem, positive self-image and potential achievements
• undertaking such duties as may be deemed appropriate by your Line Manager
• be part of the organisation’s supervision and annual performance review programme
• Maintain clear regular (weekly) communication with relevant colleagues
• To be responsible to and work in conjunction with the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the co-ordination of all matters relating to the safeguarding of learners.
• To co-ordinate and support the work of the safeguarding team.
• To liaise with the departmental supervisors to ensure that learner’s safety is maintained at all times as a priority.

Given that a high quantity of safeguarding issues are related to learner behaviour, the post holder will also be required to commit to undertaking a level 4 in Positive Behaviour Support to increase their understanding of behaviours that challenge. This will enable them to support staff to develop strategies to manage behavioural risks proactively to prevent safeguarding issues arising.
