Established since 1999. Small family business with 6 homes & good reputation. 1 x 4 bedded, 1 x 2 bedded and 4 x 3 bedded. Children with EBD ages 11 to 17.

Somerset based homes, and one is located near the forest of dean.

Key Responsibilities:

1. To work on shift to support the Home to run efficiently and effectively to a high standard and to ensure that young people are safeguarded at all times. Thus creating a homely environment for the young people in our care, taking into account their views, wishes and feelings.
2. To comply with and to have an up to date knowledge of the Home’s Statement of Purpose, Policy and Procedures, all relevant legislation and to promote best practice and maintain confidentiality.
3. To support effective multi agency working and positive relationships with all staff, the local community, local authorities, other professional agencies and significant others who are part of a young person’s life.
4. To comply with and apply company guidelines on Codes of Conduct and to set an acceptable role model standard within the home.
5. To assist in the development and delivery of the objectives identified in the young person’s Plans.
6. To support and compliment the reviewing and monitoring process in the development of Care Planning
7. To be part of the Home’s Key Worker system as allocated by the Home Manager.
8. To play an active part, promote and encourage the participation of young people in the decision-making process of the home and wider community and to provide and/or help them seek information and advice from appropriate sources.
9. To undertake whatever personal care is required to meet the needs of young people.
10. To promote anti-discriminatory and equal opportunity practices in line with Company Policy.
11. To comply with legislation and company policies on Health & Safety, Fire and Data Protection.
12. To attend all required training and to be qualified within the required regulatory timescales, and to attend team meetings and supervisions as required
13. To ensure that the petty cash budget is utilised responsibly and properly balanced at the end of each shift and all paperwork is completed in full and to prepare additional funds requests and to monitor the home’s budget as directed.

Good overall standard of Education. NVQ level 2 or 3 would be an advantage.

Varied life experiences and evidence of being positive role model to young people with a can-do attitude.
Able to write a coherent report and numeracy skills.

IT literate with keyboard skills and able to use Word and input into Excel spreadsheet.

Good administration skills and able to be well organised.

Ability to relate to young people with empathy and to work within a child centered approach

Able to follow Prevention Assessment & Management of Violence & Aggression (PAMOVA) practice and guidelines after appropriate training.

Ability to manage a homely environment, and undertake domestic chores including cooking and cleaning. Appreciation and commitment to anti-discriminatory practice.

Ability to work both as part of a team and autonomously and a commitment to support team members.

Honesty, integrity and common sense. Sense of humor. Ability to act as an appropriate role model for the young people.

Determination to achieve the best for young people in their care and to be resilient in challenging situations.
