The Children we care for.
We are looking for residential support workers to work in one of our Childrens homes which provides accommodation for Children and Young People. Our young people have complex needs which may include Emotional Behaviour Disorder (EBD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD), Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), Child Sexual Abuse (CSA), Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD), and Complex Associated Difficulties. The home is open 52 weeks per year.
We strive to develop an environment which has a therapeutic and nurturing approach to working with Children and Young People. We accept children and young people with a diverse range of social, emotional and behavioural needs. Consequently we understand there will be a range of behaviours displayed.
We understand that behaviour is driven by feelings affected by experience, and believe that young people can change and come to terms with their difficulties, eventually being able to take a fuller part in their adult life.
We believe that a clear structure can control the symptoms of difficult behaviour, but we recognise that we need more than this to make sustainable changes.
Structures such as placement planning meetings, one to one working, key working sessions and care plan targets help create an environment where the young person is supported in their development via a needs driven approach.


• For each individual young person to get the most out of life and develop their skills for adulthood.
• To ensure that each individual young person’s right (wherever possible) are met in respect of stimulation, leisure, social and family life.
• For each individual young person to have a good physical and mental health and live a healthy lifestyle which nurtures positive wellbeing.
• To protect each young person and keep them free from harm, abuse, exploitation, injustice and discrimination.
• To ensure each young person is in receipt of education appropriate to his or her assessed needs and for the appropriate amount of time.
• To create an ethos and culture of supporting positive behaviour.
• To respect the individual identities of each young person, ensuring their views are sought and acted upon, where access to information is provided freely and their interested are protected. The wishes and feelings of the young people are of paramount importance.

• To provide a range of quality assured opportunities for the young person to experience that will have close links, where possible, with family and friends and will be complimented by a comparable education and social service.
• To enhance educational provision by continuing with and educational curricular activities on a daily basis.
• To seek to involve and re-integrate the young person into their local networks for socialisation, leisure and ultimately home and mainstream school where appropriate.
• To offer an accurate and comprehensive assessment with coordinated management of risk factors to enable any psychological, medical or psychiatric intervention to be successful.
• To comply with The Children’s Act 1989 and Children’s Home Regulations 2015 for residential accommodation to ensure that all young people in receipt of the service are kept safe from harm.
• To work within Child Protection/ Safeguarding policy and Practise.
• To be accountable for monies allocated for specific purposes, to maintain records as required and the appropriate use as set out within the reasons for allocation.
• To be computer literate to a minimum of a basic level.
• To be responsible for accurate, concise recording of information pertinent to the child and role.
