Regional Financial Controller

Our Client is a leading highways service provider working with local authorities across the UK.

To provide financial support, guidance and oversight in relation to the London Division to allow the contract to meet its objectives in an efficient, financially viable and sustainable manner. The role will also ensure the effective and efficient management of London financial operations including reporting and forecasting to senior management.

Specific Accountabilities:

• Manage and lead the London division finance function including forging a close working relationship with the Commercial Manager and the Senior Management Teams
• Preparation and presentation of monthly management information and reports including internal contract reporting compared to targets, forecasting, financial performance targets
• Working with the Commercial Team to ensure the accurate recording of costs and liabilities of the work undertaken to date
• Preparation and presentation of financial reports for company and group reporting for the division
• Preparation of the annual budget and quarterly reviews
• Provide financial management of the contract including making appropriate recommendations and advising of potential impact of management decisions on the business
• Ensure all financial policies and procedures relevant to the contracts are current and are adhered to
• Regular meetings with the Directors and the teams to discuss strategic financial issues related to the contract and analyse the financial reports and forecasts.
• Manage the financial governance processes for the contract including liaison and provision of information to external audit, client’s internal auditors and other audit reviews conducted specific to the contract
• Improving systems and processes regarding the preparation and presentation of management information, including appropriate costing and reporting systems

Core Competencies:

• Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA 2 years + post qualification experience
• Suit a qualified professional seeking the make the move from practice into industry or from a finance role including leading and managing finance teams
• Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles and processes
• Experience in the preparation and monitoring of financial reports, annual budgets and forecasts
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Demonstrated experience in a senior finance role with direct contact and reporting responsibilities to your client.
• Ability to present financial information to non-financial management
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Effective time management and prioritisation skills
• Ability to show continual improvement in a management accountant role in the organisational context
• Proficient in the use of accounting software packages
