Overall Purpose of this Post:

* To provide support and challenge to school leaders (including governors) to improve provision and outcomes.
* To contribute to school improvement strategies and processes in the Education Performance Service.
* To contribute to city wide improvement strategies to realise the ambition of every school being at least Ofsted good and the outcomes of young people raised to at least in line with national expectations.

Major Objectives: 

1. To contribute to the development of effective strategies to improve quality of education provision, standards and outcomes in Leicester.
2. To be accountable for identifying risks to performance and improvement in allocated schools/settings, and reporting and intervening appropriately and in a timely manner.
3. To challenge school governors and leaders to improve quality of provision and standards.
4. To contribute to the development, deployment and quality assurance of school improvement strategies, projects and programmes.
5. To contribute to the development of school-led improvement systems in the city.
6. To contribute to the development of effective governance and leadership in city schools. 
7. To contribute to wider developments in Children’s Services and work with other services (e.g. early help, social care) and partners to devise and implement changes and solutions which remove barriers to children and young people’s wellbeing and achievement.
8. To implement and promote Leicester City Council's policies and procedures relating to all areas of employment and service delivery.

Summary of job tasks:

1. Analyse performance data and other evidence relating to school quality and standards; identifying strengths and priorities for improvement monitoring education performance in allocated schools and identify priorities to improve quality and outcomes.
2. Co-ordinates and supports the delivery of individual school improvement plans, including liaising with the full range of services and partners who are contributing to the improvement plan.
3. Monitors and reports on the progress and impact of school support and intervention plans, including assessing risks to quality and standards.
4. Quality assures governors’ and school leaders’ self -evaluation of school quality and standards, and makes judgements on progress and impact of school improvement plans.
5. Maintains up to date records and provide written reports, as required, on school quality and performance, ensuring there are clear recommendations for improvement and development.
6. Contributes to the school improvement monitoring processes in the Education Performance Service.
7. Contributes to the development and delivery of the Education Performance Service development plan.
8. Works with governors, school leaders and other partners on collaborative developments and intervention plans that are focused on raising achievement and attainment.
9. Provides relevant advice, support and training to education staff and governors, in schools individually or as part of the local authority or wider strategic group offers.
10. Takes a lead on agreed service priorities, projects and activities identified in service plans to improve quality of provision.
