INTRODUCTION

My client is a leading engineering company with a proven track record in providing advanced engineered products to sectors that include research centres, aerospace, automotive, pharmaceutical, sports science and industrial manufacturing environments.

With almost 60 years in business and as part of a larger group of companies, they’ve developed a unique range of products that provide engineers with the environment to test and develop a vast array of end-products.

They work very closely with a range of companies that would be classed as household names.

Due to a period of significant growth they are now looking to recruit a Quality Management and Health & Safety Officer to work with their sites in the East Midlands and South Wales.

THE ROLE
The main purpose of the role are to supervise and co-ordinate the Quality Management and Health & Safety systems to ensure the products or services of the company meet the highest quality standards and the working conditions of the company are safe.

You will be expected to cover the requirements at 2 sites (one in the East Midlands and the other in South Wales), with one site being a manufacturing facility and the other more “office based”

As a Quality Management and H&S Officer you will:
• Maintain Quality Management system and ISO Certification:
• Maintain controlled document system and SOP’s;
• Carry out regular audits according to certification requirements;
• Consult with department Managers concerning Quality Management topics and issues

• Implement and maintain a robust Health & Safety system:
• Maintain Health & Safety Handbook; for employees
• Carry out Health & Safety Audits (internal/external);
• Consult with department Managers concerning health & safety topics, RAMS;
• Responsible for H&S processes (assessment, implementation and documentation):
› First Aid
› RIDDOR
› COSHH
› Fire Prevention
› Work place hazards
You’ll also report to Senior Management on a monthly basis and cascade any amendments to the established systems. 

THE PERSON

In order to be considered for this Quality Management and Health & Safety Officer role it is expected that you will have:

• Sufficient relevant experience within a QM and H&S position, within a manufacturing environment
• Relevant experience within risk assessment, method statement review, audit preparation, compliance and maintenance of relevant standards and processes, risk management,
• An in-depth understanding of related legislation, company standards and programme requirements in order to pass on knowledge and requirements to others
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with all levels of stakeholder
• Good organisational and prioritising skills
• Full UK driving licence

You will also be required to carry the following qualifications (or equivalents):
Quality –
• CQI Certificate in Quality Management
• Experience of ISO9001
• Knowledge of ISO14001
Health & Safety –
• NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management
• NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety & Risk Management
• First Aid at Work Certificate
