Project Accountant/PMO Financial Analyst– Reed Professional Services are currently recruiting a Project Accountant/PMO Financial Analyst to support the business in a period of transition initially as a 3 month contract to ensure a high-quality knowledge transfer and the ongoing delivery of PMO processes internally and to our clients.

The PMO has an extremely heavy focus on Financial Control, on average about 80% of the PMO outputs are financial

This is an initially a 3 month contract paying circa £350 per day

Your responsibilities as Project Accountant/PMO Financial Analyst include:

• Financial forecasting for our projects – cost tracking from a variety of IT systems (time and other costs) and revenue tracking (billing clients) to create individual project and rolled up portfolio financial forecasts
• Lunar financial period closing – including journal requests, prepayments and accruals
• Preparation of project budgets and the application of profit margins to produce commercial values which are issued to clients (work package documentation described below
• Weekly billing information sent to Reed Finance to create invoices
• Weekly PO requests from clients and ensuring PO cover
• Aged debt resolution
• Financial savings management information
• Reconciliations between central finance systems and project based financial trackers
• Liaison with Procurement and Finance teams at clients

The remaining 20% of the role will be in the preparation of the qualitative information contained in work package documentation which is sent to clients for approval. This information comprises:
• Quality assurance of project scope and deliverable descriptions
• Quality assurance of risks and assumptions
• Decision point for relevant billing milestones

Essential Experience and Skills:
• Understanding project accounting – projects cross financial years and therefore costs will be rolled over as Work in Progress (WIP) and revenue will be either accrued or deferred
• Understanding financial IT systems, cost centres, journals, project cost centres and Business as Usual cost centres
• Financial tracking of projects. Must have had exposure to tracking and reporting costs and ideally tracking invoicing
• Financial forecasting
• Reconciliations
• Strong communication skills

Desirable Experience and Skills:
• Part qualification in CIMA or ACCA
• A PMO role in a commercial setting such as a consultancy or a service provider where PO cover and revenue/billing reporting is also required in addition to cost reporting
• Exposure to any PPM or PSA system, or SharePoint in a PMO setting
