A Programme Office Support is required at a Large Public Sector Client for 6 month+ contract in Newcastle.

Key tasks and deliverables


Project Planning – Support the development of robust programme and project plans while challenging and testing assumptions to ensure that plans are realistic and achievable. Support the project manager to identify options to optimise delivery through resource smoothing, resource levelling and rescheduling of activities.

Resources – Support the planning for wider resource requirements for the programme/project.

Stakeholder Management – Ensure that stakeholder responsibilities and needs are understood and addressed in reporting arrangements. Provision of effective and efficient advice on risks, issues and actions management to Project/Programme Managers. Develop a programme of regular risk, issue and action reviews with key stakeholders.

Project Performance & Controls – Monitor and analyse information, reporting progress, slippage and highlighting areas of risk and opportunity.

Guidance & Support – Provide expert advice on planning processes throughout the lifecycle of the project.

Monitoring & Reporting – Ensure the timely, consistent and accurate data collection, analysis and reporting on programme/project progress and delivery confidence to a range of interested parties and groups.

Risk Management Strategy, Processes and Procedures – Enacting the Risk management strategy through effective use of risk processes and procedures in accordance with best practice, Departmental policy and the complexity of the change initiative.

Identification, Analysis, Monitoring and Reporting of Risks, Issues and Actions– Responsible for facilitating the identification, analysis and monitoring risks, issues and actions. Produces periodic and ad-hoc reports, including qualitative and quantitative analysis on risks, issues and actions across the programme and projects.
Departmental policy and the complexity of the change initiative.

Identification, Analysis, Monitoring and Reporting of Risks, Issues and Actions– Responsible for facilitating the identification, analysis and monitoring risks, issues and actions. Produces periodic and ad-hoc reports, including qualitative and quantitative analysis on risks, issues and actions across the programme and projects. Establish and maintains the Risk, Issues and Assumptions database and register(s) for the change initiative(s).

Configuration and record management - ensure all key information assets, products, documents, etc. for the project are identified, controlled, tracked, and securely stored.

Securing programme and project finance – support the programme/project manager to complete the necessary documentation to facilitate funding approval.

Experience Required

Experience of working on large programmes and projects in a lead or support capacity
