Our client is a long established specialist in their field. They have a range of products and solutions to help solve their customers problems. At present they are expanding their team and require an Electrically biased Manufacturing Engineer.

The Production Engineer is responsible for all production engineering in support of the manufacturing function as the Engineering lead on all electromechanical processing and assembly within the factory.

The Production Engineer will ensure all processes, documentation, systems are continually up to date, improved/maintained & new products are introduced into manufacturing with relevant controls in place to assure safety, quality and meet the expected volume demand.


Responsibility

• Reporting any near miss or potentially hazardous activity within the team to senior management.
• Ensuring that the specification of the design is reproduced in the manufacturing environment through instructions (CWI & SOP’s), processes, D.F.M, equipment and training.
• The maintenance of existing Manufacturing Processes e.g. SOP’s, CWI, Manufacturing Processes.
• The timely delivery of tasks and commitments to agreed plans.
• The accurate reporting of progress to project plans.



Essential functions and duties


• In collaboration with the R & D Team, provide manufacturing input and guidance at the design phase of NPI, to avoid delays in Release For Manufacture.
• Creating and maintaining build instructions (SOP’s), routings, assembly times, line layouts & HSE requirements through team leaders/operational teams
• Map process to establish productivity baseline (“AS IS”) and drive efficiencies / improvements (“TO BE”)
• Work on and with 1Ø & 3Ø AC and various DC power
• PE support for Lean Six Sigma Manufacturing improvements
• Supporting the Production Engineering Team Leader or any member of the team as necessary
• Determining and optimising product process flow
• Structured Process problem solving & data analysis
• Supporting Customer Projects, NPI projects & DFM ensuring seamless changes and start-up.
• Producing justifications for new plant and equipment
• Machine/process capability studies
• Supporting existing processing equipment as necessary
• Specification of tooling and equipment required to support production
• Resolving general day-to-day production issues
• Managing the implementation of engineering changes
• Value mapping the processes to remove unnecessary waste
• Corrective action implementation responsibility for immediate fix and longer term solutions of production problems.
• Delivery of quality production engineering solutions in response to hardware development, operational and manufacturing needs
• TPM Implementation & support
• Define, measure, analyse, implement & set control for CI activities
• Travel may be required from time to time to support business activities within the UK and elsewhere.



Qualifications / Experience

• Degree level qualified (B-Tec at least / BEng or BSc preferred) in an electrical discipline; or extensive related experience and/or training in industrial environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Related experience in similar Production Engineering role
• Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office, ORACLE and Microsoft Dynamics Customer Relationship Management Applications
• MUST be able to read, understand, modify and create electric drawings, schematics (use of any CAD program is an advantage)
• Strong problem solving skills
• Strong organisational skills
• Understanding of project management (experience preferred)
• Knowledge of various Lean methodologies
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, work well with diverse groups of people and be able to function independently of direct supervision

Technical Competencies

• Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office, ORACLE and Microsoft Dynamics Customer Relationship Management Applications
• MUST be able to read, understand, modify and create electric drawings, schematics (use of any CAD program is an advantage)
• Good knowledge and experience on 1Ø & 3Ø AC and various DC power.
• Excellent understanding of modern manufacturing processes, Lean methodology and MRP systems
• Strong problem solving skills
• Strong organisational skills
• Understanding of project management (experience preferred)
• Knowledge of various quality system methodologies


Specific Requirements:

• Must have a valid driver’s licence in good standing and the ability to travel overseas
