Reed Education Cardiff are currently recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant who is comfortable and who has experience in an Behaviour Emotional Social Difficulties (BESD) school, based in Cardiff. The post is full time, and to start ASAP. The end date of the position is not known yet, but you will be covering your own classroom and the role is long term for now.

The school caters for around 50 primary aged pupils, who have a statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN). Many of the pupils who attend have additional 'barriers to learning' including ADHD, ASD, ODD and mental health difficulties. The staff-pupil ratio is high with at least 1 teacher and 2 teaching assistants in each of the classes. The curriculum that is provided for pupils is personalised with a strong emphasis on the wellbeing of pupils. The school's motto is Keep Calm and Keep Learning.

We are looking for Teaching Assistants who can handle and cope with sometimes challenging behaviour – mostly verbal but sometimes physical too. All the school staff are restraint trained, and they utilise Team Teach and all of its theoretical and practical elements within the school. Preferably you will have an in-date Team Teach qualification, but if you don’t then Reed can offer you this training free of charge.

The school itself has parking, and is easily accessible by train and other means of public transport too. Situated just on the outskirts of Cardiff this school is in an ideal location, and the school is always undergoing improvements for their pupils.

Only people who have SEN experience will be considered and please when applying, make sure your CV is up to date with this information or you will not be called for registration.
