We are recruiting on behalf of a local Police Force for a PR Officer on a temporary basis, paying £15.00ph and for an initial period of 2 months. The candidate will be expected to develop innovative communication while maximising opportunities to develop engagement and transparency

Main Duties And Responsibilities

- To ensure all communications activity is undertaken in line with the corporate communications strategy and priorities.
- To identify and exploit opportunities to raise awareness of the positive work and activities carried out by the organisation.
- To manage media enquiries determining the appropriate course of action and dealing with them through to conclusion in liaison with Press Office, Senior PR Officer and in line with their Media Policy.
- To play an active role in identifying threats, risks and opportunities using data and information and develop appropriate communication plans and implement activity.
- To research, write and evaluate press releases, identifying the best way to distribute, liaising with the media to secure coverage through video calls, interview opportunities etc.
- To work with the Senior PR Officer and Senior Digital Officer to identify and maximise online and digital opportunities for proactive communication.

Qualifications/Education


- Relevant PR or communications qualification or equivalent PR industry experience.

Experience

- Gained working relationships with partner agencies and demonstrate joint working.
- Relevant experience of working as a public relations officer/journalist in a busy public relations/communication office in close contact with the media.
- Relevant knowledge and experience of using social media to support campaigns and communication activity.
- Awareness of internal and external communication channels.

Skills/Abilities


- Ability to identify positive stories and to convert them into effective and engaging communication.
- Ability to deal with a wide range of computer/digital systems.
- Ability to develop and discuss media/comms plans with senior officers and staff and assist with publicity issues.
- Excellent writing skills for news, features, campaigns and digital delivery.
- Capable of prioritising workloads to meet daily operating demands on the role.
