There are strong links with both Family Intervention and Safeguarding (FIS) teams to ensure transitions are as smooth as possible. Social workers and team managers work tirelessly to ensure that thresholds have been met and that service users are stepped up to safeguarding if a Child in Need, Child Protection or Children Looked After order is needed or to the Family Intervention Service.
A strong sense of team, weekly meetings with practice colleagues, weekly debriefs, fortnightly group supervision and everyone taking ownership of the improvement plan.
Reflective and supportive supervision and strong case management conferencing. Staff morale is good, and management are committed to staff retention.
Training and development opportunities are supported by weekly continuing professional development, and on-site additional management support from Consultant Social Workers, and Advanced Social Work Practitioner (AP) Programme with role specialism.
Flexible working is promoted within teams and will consider part time, 9-day fortnight and other flexible working approaches.
The team for the west of the county are based in Taunton. Transport links are great with access to the M5, less than two hours by train to London and 40 minutes drive in each direction to Bristol and Exeter.
