The Perinatal Support Service is a partnership between Family Action and Better Start Bradford and is aimed at pregnant women who have - or are at risk of developing - mild to moderate mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression.

It helps women through their pregnancy and up until their baby’s first birthday, and can work with their partners too.

Responsibilities:

You will facilitate a comprehensive assessment process to all parents or prospective parents who access the Bradford Perinatal Support Service from their homes and other community based venues.

You will signpost and work in partnership with other agencies where appropriate, to meet service user needs. You will also help with allocating to a project befriender and provide some project engagement work, including delivering groups and drop-ins from Children’s Centre’s and Community Centre’s as directed by the Perinatal Coordinator.

You will need:

• A qualification in Early Years, Nursing, social care NVQ 3 or equivalent. Or have family support or health related work experience.

• You will be able to engage with families holistically.

• Sound knowledge of child development, safeguarding and the assessment process is essential.

• It is crucial that you have an understanding of the impact of marginalization and deprivation.

• Driving Licence/Access to a car

• A valid DBS

Knowledge of languages other than English would be helpful but not essential.
