This job role is being offered on a permanent basis at zero hours per week. The main purpose of this vacancy will be to provide support at times when additional staffing is required (covering annual leave or sickness) at any of the authority's libraries or museums, and to assist in the provision of an efficient and effective local library or museum service. You will be in a position to do this by ensuring a good standard of customer care is provided and deal effectively with routine enquiries and duties e.g. using computer systems, restocking and sorting shelves, and miscellaneous clerical duties.
Museum support can include general cleaning (showcases, doorways, etc), care for historic buildings and their contents, exhibitions and events, and other duties commensurate with role.
A background in a customer service will serve you well in this role alongside an understanding of the need to provide a service that has customers as the focus of all activities. You will play a key role in meeting and greeting the customers alongside ensuring they have an enjoyable experience. You will need to be able to move round the Borough for work and this will include working at short notice including evenings and Saturdays. Due to the nature of this role you will be required to undertake considerable physical aspects including standing, bending, stretching and lifting. Training on the in-house systems will be given but the team do require someone with good ICT skills.
