Outsourcing Associate - PAYROLL

My client, a Top 10 Accountancy practice based in Reading, are looking for a Payroll Associate to add to their ever-growing team. They offer great benefits and a great working environment, with lots of opportunities to progress.

This is a Full Time, Permanent role.

You and your team will advise on a variety of payroll related matters, particularly executive remuneration packages, benefits in kind and tax and national insurance implications. You will ensure that payroll procedures are operating correctly and meet HMRC and DWP requirements.

The purpose of this role is to ensure that all client's payrolls are processed accurately and in a timely manner and assist senior members of the department with all aspects of payroll.

Responsibilities:

- Maintain a complex portfolio of client payrolls
- A good understanding of currently PAYE and NIC legislation that affects payroll
- Ensure all starters, leavers, benefits and allowances information is entered on the Payroll database and update the relevant spreadsheet to record all entries made
- Calculate leavers pay when leaving mid-month
- Calculation of statutory payments
- Process P45 forms
- Print and sort payslips for distribution
- Run payroll reports
- Ensure monthly salary payment for client payrolls are transferred to the correct accounts in a timely manner
- Upload FPS and EPS reports to HMRC as required
- Completion of return of expenses and benefits forms P11D and P11D(b)
- Good understanding of the payroll software and its functionality and provide assistance to more junior members of the team on this
- Respond to client queries regarding payroll in a professional and timely manner
- Assist more junior members of the team with basic payroll queries
- Deal with HMRC correspondence enquiries
- Maintain an up to date client status schedule
- Deal with general administrative duties
- Undertake advanced payroll tasks within clearly defined procedures

The successful candidate will ideally have:

- Payroll experience within an Accountancy Practice
- Qualification with CIPP (Year 2 of foundation degree in Payroll Management) is highly desirable
- A strong work ethic
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
- Have a good knowledge of changes to legislation which effect payroll
- Good working knowledge of MS Office and payroll software (payrite)
- Good time keeping/punctuality
