We are assisting an established Chartered Accountancy practice serving the accounting and taxation requirements of small and medium sized businesses. We are looking for a proactive, energetic, part or fully qualified Accountant with strong communication skills to join their growing team.

The role will provide an ideal opportunity to grow within the business and add to your existing knowledge. The package will be commensurate with experience and provision can be included for further studies.

The responsibilities of the position may include ownership of a portfolio of work ensuring the compliance requirements of sole traders and limited companies are conducted to form a basis for providing value added and wealth creation services to each client.


The ideal candidate will be fully conversant in the following areas:

Audit
Will know how to prepare a full audit file, conduct an audit, be up to date on all reporting regulations and standards
Accounting
Will be fully conversant with double entry, audit exemption, parameters for micro, small, medium and large companies
Taxation
Will be fully conversant with Income tax, corporation tax, capital gains tax, capital acquisitions tax, payroll taxes and relevant contracts tax. Also will be able to explain in simple terms how a transaction is affected by different taxes.
Company Secretarial
Will be fully conversant with all standard aspects of company secretarial to include annual return deadlines and all compliance forms from incorporation to dissolution
Business advisory
Will be able to treat the finalisation of accounts as a starting point rather than an ending point. Should be able to analyse an idea or problem and provide an analysis of issues, potential solutions and a preferred option to suit the case


Other desirables:
• Economically minded – understands how to cost work and the value of same to clients
• Should be able to keep wip at a minimum and bill regularly and profitably
• Workload management – Can manage a varied workload to ensure the critical items are identified and dealt with in order of importance whilst also recognising the time required to finalise billable work
• Have the ability to work methodically and logically through problems on one’s own initiative
• Can interact with other staff members to ensure that the workload management of the practice is effective
• Can recognise work opportunities either within existing client work or by introducing new clients to the practice
• Would be conversant with Tas, Sage, Relate, BRC, Drive, Thesarus and interested in future technology
• Already have at least 2 years small or non-departmentalised medium sized practice experience
