Middleware Specialist - Global Bank - Sheffield

A leading global bank currently require a Middleware Specialist for an initial 2 month contract (with the view to extend) based in Sheffield, paying up to £500 per day.

Principal responsibilities
• Carry out Middleware, primarily MQ and WebSphere/Liberty product installation and administration
• Create and maintain MQ and WebSphere/Liberty product installations, configurations and administration documentation
• Security exits and SSL certificate management for MQ and WebSphere/Liberty for existing and new application environment.
• Configuration changes on existing application environments to resolve/fix incidents and problem record.
• Be available to providing out of office hours support for production support issues
• Develop scripts and configure tools to automate housekeeping and monitoring, including capacity management and planning, backup and job scheduling
• Conduct performance monitoring and tuning
• Maintain High-Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions
• Work closely with application teams and provide consultancy services and technical advice if required

Requirements
• University graduate with a relevant IT degree
• Knowledge of distributed platform environments on which Middleware is run, including basic UNIX shell scripting skills for MQ administration and Support activities
• In-depth knowledge of IBM MQ Series V7.0, 7.5, 8.0 - DQM, Clustered and Pub-Sub setups/topology etc
• Knowledge of MQ on backup and recovery procedures of the MQ objects/messages. High availability(HA) features
• In-depth Knowledge of Middleware Web Technologies such as WebSphere and Liberty
• Excellent communication skills, with ability to describe complex technical scenarios in a concise manner, both verbally and written, and articulating the content depending on the audience.

• Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Able to work occasionally during out of office hours, including weekend days and nights
