This position is based in an outstanding College in the North London area, is a popular and oversubscribed sixth form college of around 1400 full-time students, all students are on A level courses.
The College has a strong community spirit and friendly supportive atmosphere. Our success rates and A*-B pass rates and is one of the top five colleges in England.

This is a positon to teach only A Level French and German after the October half term to cover long term sickness, therefore it could be onogoing but will be a minimum one month.

This will be a part-time role teaching on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

You will be provided with a happy, trusting and caring environment where you can challenge yourself and explore a whole range of opportunities.

Duties

Planning and preparing courses and lessons
Teaching, according to their educational needs, the students assigned to you including
the setting and marking of work to be carried out by the student in college and
elsewhere.
Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress and attainment of
students in each case having regard to the curriculum of the College.

Other Activities
(a) Promoting the general progress and well-being of individual students and of any class or
group of students assigned to you.
(b) Providing guidance and advice to students on educational and social matters and on
their further education and future careers, including information about sources of more
expert advice on specific questions; making relevant records and reports
(c) Making records of and reports on the personal and social needs of students.
(d) Communicating and consulting with the parents of students.
(e) Communicating and co-operating with persons or bodies outside the college.
(f) Participating in meetings arranged for any of the purposes described above.

Person Specification


Honours degree in relevant discipline.

PGCE or equivalent post-16 teaching qualification.

Ability to teach Sociology at A level standard

Contribute positively to the work of the department by sharing teaching ideas and resources.

Excellent classroom skills that demonstrate effective differentiation and assessment for learning and give rise to high quality learning.

Successful use of intervention strategies to improve levels of progress.

Skilled in using assessment data and prior learning to inform planning

Good behaviour management skills.

Excellent communication and team working skills.

The inter-personal skills and enthusiasm required to undertake the duties of a personal tutor to post-16 age group.

Understanding of and commitment to equality and diversity in practice.

Commitment to safeguarding the interests and needs of young people.
