A leading Engineering company in the raw materials industry are currently seeking a Multi Skilled Fitter to join their team at one of their Derbyshire sites.
As market experts on a global scale, this company is always looking to invest in staff, equipment and processes to stay ahead of their competitors. Due to an increase in workload and production, they are now looking for a Multi Skilled Fitter, whose responsibilities will be mechanically focused, but varied in terms of their day to day role.
Based in Derbyshire, the role of the Multi Skilled Fitter will be to work alongside the mechanical maintenance team and will be reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Manager. Championing Health and Safety at all times, you will have a wide range of responsibilities around the site, which will include:
- Working on large hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
- Welding and fabricating.
- Fault finding on gearboxes, bearings and large manufacturing equipment.
- Writing maintenance reports.
- Stripping of machinery with the use of hand tools.
- Working on robots.
- Maintaining the highest standards of H&S at all times.
From the list above, you can see that the role is mechanically focused and is titled Multi Skilled Fitter due to the variety of mechanical work being undertaken, not because there is electrical work involved.
The right type of candidate for this position will ideally be from a mine, quarry or a similar heavy manufacturing environment and will have a range of skills to cover the above list of responsibilities.
You would be well suited for this role if you have experience with:
Extremely large and heavy hydraulic and pneumatic equipment that can reach 400 tonnes.
Mig and Arc welding, as well as Oxy Acetylene cutting gear. You should have had formal training, be holding a recognised qualification for this and have good experience designing and fabricating complex structures.
Fault finding experience on manufacturing gearboxes and bearings (not vehicles or small manufacturing equipment).
Hand tools including: Pull drills, band saws and bench grinders for work on machine stripping.
Knowledge around lifting and slinging regulations and practical experience.
Computer software to access PPM schedules and record any maintenance reports.
